Portals

The mid-1990s saw the advent of public portals providing a key set of features (e.g., news, e-mail, weather, stock quotes, and search) that were often presented in self-contained portlets. Before long, enterprises of all sizes began to see a need for a similar starting place for a variety of their internal repositories and applications, many of which were migrating to Web-based technologies.

At Portaltech we have been working with portal technology since our inception, indeed as our name suggests this was one of the initial areas we focused on. It was apparent however that customers wanted content management, search and eCommerce capabilities integrated within their portal so that advanced personalisation could be realised. Over the years we have worked with many of the leading portal technologies and we have a huge amount of experience with both commercial and open source technologies.
